Richard John “RJ” Plaskon
Age 91, of South Fayette, formerly of Wilkinsburg, on September 10, 2016. Known affectionately as “Sweet & Lovable.” Loving father of Kathleen Sukalac of Mayville, NY, Donald (Betsy) Plaskon of Plum Boro, Raymond Plaskon of Vowinckle, PA, Patty Plaskon of South Fayette; grandfather of Thomas (Debra) Sukalac, Kristen (Greg) Sukalac-Yon, Michael Plaskon, Gwyn (Jeff) Plaskon-Metzger; great- grandfather of Elyn Metzger; brother of Nancy Edwards. Preceded in death by his beloved spouse of 66 years, Rita, infant daughter Marianne and brother Donald. Richard was a former long-time member of St. James Catholic Church in Wilkinsburg and Holy Child Parish in Bridgeville. He served in the Pacific as a Navy Seabee during WWII. RJ was employed for many years at the Wilkinsburg-Penn Joint Water Authority, coached Little League and often organized baseball outings for neighborhood children. He was an avid card player. He stated, “The two best things in life are ice cream and football.” Friends received Friday, 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. in the WARCHOL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, 10 a.m. in Holy Child Parish, 212 Station Street, Bridgeville.
