Obituary of Alex Veydt

Age 95, of Cecil, went home to be with his Lord on July 29, 2014. He was born on August 6, 1918, in Cecil. A son of the late Louis and Marie Piron Veydt. On October 18, 1941, he married Florence Green Veydt, who died in 2002. Mr. Veydt was a lifelong member of Cecil Alliance Church and a retired employee of Universal Cyclops, Bridgeville. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Army and a member of the Cecil American Legion. Surviving are four children; Neil (Sharrol) Veydt of Spring Arbor, MI, Linda (Geary) Leasure, Connie (Dale) Armitage and Mark (Pam) Veydt, all of Cecil, nine grandchildren; Lance (Becky) Veydt, Karen (Terry) French, Lynne (Bryan) Beebe, Jennifer (Michael) Slack, G. Michael Leasure, Jill (Jason) Kowalski, Lauren, Steven and Kelsey Veydt, also 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Deceased along with his wife is a grandson; David Armitage and his wife Lauren, who survives. Also preceding him in death were four brothers; Paul, Jack, Louie and John Veydt, four sisters; Harriet Strimel, Victoria Aubrey, Marie Calvey and Elaine Zakareckis . Friends received Friday, 2-4 and 6-9 pm, in the Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333). A funeral service will be held Saturday, 11 am, in Cecil Alliance Church (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH), with the Rev. Eric McAdams officiating. Interment with military honors to follow in Venice Cemetery, Cecil. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cecil Alliance Church, P.O. Box 264, Cecil, PA 15321.
