Obituary of William T. Herlihy
William Thomas Herlihy, age 96, passed away peacefully on October 26th, 2024. He was the son of the late Thomas and Anne Herlihy born September 5th, 1928, in New York City. Beloved husband of Shirley (Popich) Herlihy.
William worked at U. S. Steel for over forty years ultimately in Purchasing. Mr. Herlihy ‘s three loves were his family, the New York Yankees and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Bill Herlihy always had a kind word and a smile for anyone he encountered. Bill had a big faith, he was prayer warrior and a excellent Christian example.
William was preceded in death by his first wife Jean Brennan Herlihy, a brother Thomas Herlihy and his wife Josephine, a daughter Kathy Bowers, a son Thomas Herlihy, grandsons Casey Burdick and Seth Burdick; niece Joanne Zagarino; as well as stepson Paul Senko; step son-in-law Michael Segool.
He is survived by daughters Barbara (Bill) Burdick, Ellen (Eddie) Ball, Lisa (Jamie) Johnson and sons Bill (Gloria) Herlihy and Michael Herlihy. Neice Jackie (Joe) Szymczak and nephews Frank Zagarino; Thomas Herlihy and son-in-law John Bowers.
Mr. Herlihy is survived by the following grandchildren who knew him as Papap: Ericka (Dave) Westerman, Jesse (Katie) Burdick, Rachel Cloninger, Robert (Dana) Driscol, Chrissy (Pete) Overcash, Jessica (Daniel) Naranjo, Bridget (Hunter) Truitt, Brennan, Mason and Cody Herlihy. William is also survived by ten great grandchildren.
Surviving Mr. Herlihy are step children Marianne Segool; John Senko; Daniel (Lynne) Senko; Andrew (Lacey) Senko, Grandpa Bill is also survived by step grandchildren : Crystal Senko (Rajibul Islam); Sean Senko; Richard Senko ; David Senko (Katherine); Dana Tye (David); Ruby Senko and four step great grandchildren.
