Obituary of Kenneth W. Scotty

Kenneth W. "Leroy" Scotty, 66, of Bridgeville, PA, passed away unexpectedly on August 29, 2024. Born on August 24, 1958, Ken was larger than life and even louder, known for his generous spirit, loyalty, and deep love for his family and friends. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Scotty and Williamena Patterson, and his brother, Daryl Scotty. He leaves behind his loving daughter, Sara Anderson, and her husband, Jason. Ken was the proud and devoted "Big Pap" to his three beloved grandchildren, Axle, Cole, and Jake. He is also survived by his grandchildren Hailey, Luke, and Logan, and their mother, Sandra Johnston. Ken is survived by his longtime companion, Karie "Princess" Goedert, who was always by his side. He will be dearly missed by his siblings, Laura Herrmann (Larry), Howard Patterson (Darcy), Stanley Patterson, and his beloved sister, Maggi Warner (Dennis). Ken also leaves behind his nieces and nephew, Ruth Debar, Sheila Herrmann, and Larry Herrmann. Among his closest friends were Donnie "Bonk" Bonkowski and Angie Surgent, who, along with Ken, made up "The Three Amigos." The bond they shared will be cherished forever by the "two amigos" left behind. Ken graduated from Chartiers Valley High School in 1976. A proud and hardworking electrician, he owned and operated Scotty Electric, hustling and bustling throughout his life. He was deeply involved in youth boxing in the Pittsburgh area, where he was affectionately known as "Leroy" within the boxing community, and he proudly served as a USA Boxing official. Ken loved traveling to NASCAR races with his buddies, Dean Rogers and Glenn Bruckner. He held fond memories of trips to Hawaii and Cuba with his close friend, Brandon Cercone, including their recent work restoring a social club downtown. You could count on Ken starting his days at his favorite spot, Gab N’ Eat. Ken valued his family and friends above all else, always ready to drop everything to help those he cared about. He approached every situation in his unfiltered, purely authentic manner, endearing himself to all who knew him. A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, September 8th, from 4-6 PM at the Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412.221.3333).
