Truly sorry for the passing of Kenny. My deepest condolences to the family as I just found this out. I’m so sorry for your loss. He was a loyal friend of ours all and anyone who new him. Loud yes loud but said what he felt and felt what he said. Agreed or not. It would take years to tell stories of him and I. See you on the other side friend. Always had your back ! Donny G

Hi Sara Jason, & Sandra, This is Rob Massick in Sacramento Ca. I shared a message that I think was lost on the Legacy site. I want to send my deepest condolences to you all & grandchildren. I want you to know that I loved Kenny. We have been friends for over 30 yrs. I met Kenny in Pgh before I moved here. We mostly spoke by phone since I moved to Sacramento Ca 30 yrs ago, but I did live in Pgh in 2005 for 6 mths after being transferred there to work. We had fun then, & Kenny did visit me in Sacramento twice, where he saw Lake Tahoe, & Yosemite, & spent time at my home & on the American River. Loved his laugh, & still have some boxing memorabilia he sent me from when Spatafore ( spelling ?) was champ. I miss you & your booming voice on our talks. My life & the lives of all who knew you, were better because you were in it buddy. May you rest in peace. My prayers are being said for you & your family Kenny

My name is Michael Mata and the only way I knew Ken at all, was as his tenant in the apartment he rented (attached to his home) at 193 Liberty St in Bridgeville. Further I never met any of his friends or family, or socialized with him: But because I feel his legacy includes the fact that he was "a tough outspoken man" (thus we had some doozy arguments) there is nonetheless something to learn learn from this memory, I think everyone could benefit from, as follows:
Namely that even though he didn't like or trust me for the first year and a half, I became determined to SHOW him through my actions that I really WAS trustworthy thus i am pleased to say; that he did end up trusting me which to me sets the example of how with a little effort and patience, people who don't initially get along can find enough common ground, to accept the ways of people they don't understand, and instead actually end up with mutual respect (instead of allowing only disagreements to define an association)! Especially in these times of bitterness between citizens of opposing viewpoints, I think Ken's legacy supports the notion that if people want to get along, they can! So with this I'll end by offering my sincere sympathies, to all his family and friends. He was a tough but GOOD man! Mike Mata (Ken's apartment tenant)
PS: There is one regret: Because we ended on a good note I had fully intended to engage him in a conversation about boxing; because even though he probably would never have guessed it; I have long had a keen interest in the sport and especially wanted to hear what he had to say about the classic bouts between Ali, Frasier Foreman Quarry Norton on and on!

I met Leroy, when my son Brandon Cercone brought him over to Hawaii for our family reunion, in Kailua-Kona Hi. My family is from a small beach area called Honaunau (City of Refuge).
He enjoyed the Hawaiian food especially the fried fish, he loved it, I would give the biggest one, he enjoyed it so much, we thought him how to eat it like a Hawaiian, fins and head. We will miss him dearly.
We were looking forward to seeing him again to our family reunion in 2025.
Aloha Leroy as we say in Hawaii, Me Kealoha Pumehana (with warmest love). We will miss you. Aloha, George and Nora Sheridan

Big, brash, bold, beautiful. Champion for the underdog. Virtuous. Always ready to right the wrongs of the world, to offer some sage-like wisdom to weather any storm, and always ready to show up for those he held near and dear-no matter the distance or charge. We miss you soo much!

I am so sorry for the loss of your loved one. Leroy was one of the first people who welcomed me into the local amatuer boxing community several years ago. I will miss hearing his booming voice and seeing him at ringside. The boxing community has lost a longstanding dedicated supporter of the sport. May he rest in peace.

Dear Sara, Jason, Axle, Cole, Jake, Sandra & children and all of Mr. Scotty's loved ones- I am so sorry for your loss! When someone is as loved and special as your Dad the saying "where there is deep grief there was great love" and there's no doubt of the tremendous love your Dad brought to you all. I'm sorry I didn't have the pleasure of knowing your Dad, Sara. As his daughter, you are so special and one of the most genuinely caring, bright and hilarious people I have the privilege to know and love. I know your Dad absolutely played a big role in the incredible woman you are so he had to be truly one of a kind. You are all in our thoughts and hearts as you remember your beloved Dad. With love, Liz & Ken Nurczynski
