Obituary of John F. Mahla
Youngest of seven children by loving parents, Elizabeth and Ron Mahla, passed away on May 20, 2024. John was born November 20, 1964 in Upper St. Clair. He graduated from Kiski Prep in 1983 and was inducted into the Kiski Hall of Fame in 2018 for his track and field accomplishments. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting. His adventurous spirit and love of rural architecture led him to start his company, Hickory Timber Frames. John searched out and relocated historic barns across the country for many who appreciated his keen eye and artistic talents. These passions also created lifelong friendships.
Surviving are five siblings, Karen Hillgrove, Dick (Monica) Mahla, Sue (Steve) Cosgrove, Liz (Dan) Winters, Chuck (Lisa) Mahla, and Diane Mahla (deceased). He is also survived by 16 loving nieces and nephews. Friends received Thursday, May 23 from 3-7 pm at the Warchol Funeral Home, Inc. 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, PA (412-221-3333), where a funeral service will be held Friday, May 24, at 11 am.
