My family and I send our sincerest condolences to Sabine, Sarah, Guy and Jay's family that he often talked about that we didn't know personally. I came to know Jay while he was still on active duty in the Army and after he retired, around the community and had the opportunity to work for Jay as civil servants at Fort Gregg-Adams for several years. He was a true professional, leader, always set the example and when he spoke, people listened up and down the chain of command. He was always ready to talk about Michigan football and I never saw him at work without one of his classic bow ties. Jay always encouraged others to be the best they could be and he will surely be missed by all.

My sincerest condolences to the Family of a great patriot, Soldier, and devoted civilian. I have known Jay professionally for nearly 20 years and in that time, I don’t know if I have ever encountered such a passionate and dedicated individual who has always sought to improve the capabilities and readiness of the Army and support for Soldiers and civilians. Jay’s mark on our Army and those he encountered will be long and enduring.

My heart goes out to Jay’s family. I had the privilege of knowing Jay for more than 20 years. Always struck by his deep understanding of our Army and how it works organizationally and the technical side to include maintenance, ammunition, and missile. Although he was an encyclopedia of military knowledge, his professional passion was in the people that worked for him. He was a mentor, coach and teacher to me and all the lucky people that had the opportunity to work for him. Where Jay’s heart lay was with his family. It was always center stage and anyone that ever had a lengthy conversation with him would come to learn that quickly. Jay has always given more than he’s taken, and he will be sorely missed—Go Blue!

My deepest condolences to the Family. My connection with Jay was immediate when we met once we learned I had recently left the First Sergeant position at 24th Ordnance, where Jay had been a Commander many years prior. From that point forward, he always had tips or advice to help me grow personally and professionally, like keeping your resume on you because you’ll never know who may be interested in hiring you. Also, he would always tell me to “find your style like me and my bowtie.” Rest Easy Jay.

My deepest condolences to the Sabine and the Family, I honored to serve Jay (my boss) from 2012-2016 at CASCOM HQs. He always was professional and National representative for United States Army. He would always spoke about his children and loved the Michigan Wolverines. I know he would love that Michigan will now be played for the National Championship next week. He also was a great friend after I retired from the Army. I was very great to see him retired in September 2023 at the Ordnance Headquarters after 40+ years. He is now home to the Kingdom of Heaven.

I met Jay upon his assignment in 2005 to the CASCOM. He was a consummate professional and always had a solution to challenges. He provided mentorship and counselling to those around and in my opinion could be characterized as a soldier's soldier. it was a life well lived. RIP.

Although my acquaintance with Jay was brief, as we prepared for his retirement, it became evident that he was a truly remarkable individual. In that short span, he not only showcased his wonderful character but also generously shared invaluable knowledge. My heartfelt condolences to you and your family.

I was honored to serve and work with Jay for over 15 years. Jay was a consummate professional who took his duty to our Nation seriously, serving honorably in and out of uniform. I listened to him talk of his beloved Wolverines and his beloved family, seeing how much they meant to him. You could hear the pride when he spoke of his children. Jay will be missed by all who knew him.
May you now be at peace my friend.
