Obituary of Donald George Toney

Age 92, of Upper St. Clair, PA, formerly of Bridgeville, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday July 4th, 2023, surrounded by family. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Amy. Loving father of Diana Mathison (Tom), Donald Hajal, Linda Wilson (Jeff), Lisa Pichi (Rick). Grandfather of Mac Mathison (Celina), Kathleen Mathison (Jeff), Haley Wilson, Amy Wilson, and Gianna Pichi. Also survived by sisters, Arlene Deep and Geraldine Funk, in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and lifelong friends. Don was the son of a self-made immigrant father, who migrated to the United States in the early 1900s. His father, Murray, pedaled goods on his back, until he opened his very own retail store. Don grew up on Baldwin Street and attended Bridgeville High School, and onto what is now Robert Morris University. He began his career in the trucking industry at Kenny Transfer and continued at Preston Trucking the 151 Line, where he made a lifetime career as a regional sales manager. He met Amy during a family vacation to Trinidad and Tobago. He charmed the island girl and brought her back to Pittsburgh where they were married for a loving 44 years. She was his world and he was hers. Don was always a Pittsburgh sports fan and rarely missed a Steelers game. He also was an avid golfer, playing many rounds in his younger days. His children and his grandchildren were his ultimate joy, and he was so looking forward to the arrival of his first great grandson. Friends and family will be welcomed at Warchol Funeral Home, 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, PA 15017 on Friday, July 7th from 3:00pm-7:00pm with a Trisagion at 6:30pm. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, July 8th at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 3230 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, PA 15017 at 10:00am, followed by burial at St. George Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
