I was forbidden to ever enter my father's house again. It was all because I invited 2 friends over to spend the night for a matter of hours instead of driving them home late at night in early April 1988.. I was being hospitable, the way many real Syrians taught me to be. There was no drinking or drugs involved. Since that day in early spring 1988 until today they held a grudge against me and slandered my reputation even though I reached out in good faith. I have had no companionship, mutual assistance, security or love. My sisters and parents ridiculed me for not having friends but when I did make friends it either cost me my future or they would undermine the friendships or usurp them for themselves. It now seems that they simply were embarrassed about the way I look and that I am disabled due to physical issues and severe anxiety. My cousins say they "don't know what happened back then" but now they do, if they read this.

Our Catholic male Steve Mason always seems to have that same speech handy for all occasions. In reality Donald Toney (and his wife Amy} bullied, ridiculed and slandered his only son based on his physical appearance. He called him "warped", 'retard", "ugly" and that he "should go look in a mirror to see what the world is talking about". He left his son bereft of any compassionate, mutual aid or help since 1988. He left his son to suffer homelessness for 7 weeks due to a flood, which was the reason for his name change.. He left his son without a car or help with transportation since 12/9/1994. He took an insurance policy out on his son naming himself the beneficiary. He would not let his son back in the house since April 6, 1988. Had Donald toney and his wife said "He's my son. I love him. Leave him alone" then everyone would have backed off. But he didn't. He left his $550,000 house to his three daughters, one of which is married to a predatory corporate attorney whilst his son has nothing and no one in life. His daughters have their own homes and a dignified retirement whilst their brother faces homelessness

I’m proud to have been with Preston Trucking until Yellow bought the company and to be a friend and fellow Salesperson with Don.

Don was a mentor to so many in Sales with Preston Trucking and he was known for his honesty, integrity, and a great sense of humor. He was always smiling and gave praise to others, when he deserved it more. After leaving Preston, I tried to keep up
with Don and through phone calls and emails, always had a chance to let him know how much he was respected by his peers
Many of the Preston Associates that left when Yellow purchased the company, had a yearly reunion in Myrtle Beach to play Golf.
We named it the 'THE DON TONEY OPEN' and although he couldn't attend, I would always send him pictures of the group.
To his family I send my sincere condolences and pray that you will have comfort in knowing how much he was loved by so many.

My brother-in-law, Don, met my sister Amy on his visit to Trinidad, and eventually married her at a ceremony in Pittsburgh.
In 1967, when my father couldn't travel from Trinidad to Toronto to where I had emigrated, Don drove from Pittsburgh to Toronto and gave me away at my wedding, to my husband, Larry Mason.
Don and I stayed close, especially after Amy passed in 2002; We shared many laughs, agreeing and disagreeing on many topics, especially which country had the better hockey team, Canada or the U.S.A.
I made frequent visits to Pittsburgh to visit him and his family.
He was very special in my and my children's (Kelly and Steve) lives and I will miss him.

I will always cherish my memories of Uncle Don dating back to childhood visits to Pittsburgh. His warm welcoming smile and sense of humour (particularly poking fun at Canada) will always stay with me and I felt so at home when I was around him. His love for family was truly second to none.
