Probably the best teacher in my career. He was kind enough to to talk to younger engineers and shared his experiences!
Our society will miss him greatly!
RIP Dr. Tim

This one hurts my heart!! I hope this wonderful man knew how special he was to so many people. I met Tim through work at Westinghouse in Ft. Payne, AL. He was definitely the smartest man I have ever known but he never made anyone feel like they were dumb. I told him I appreciated that he could "dumb it down" so this girl with only a high school education could understand. He would just laugh that sweet laugh of his and grin real big. The world was a better place with him in it but his legacy will live on through all the lives he touched. I feel truly blessed that I got to call him my friend. He will be missed!!

I had the great pleasure of being mentored by Dr. Tim Emery, starting in 2006, and I am blessed to have known him and worked with him. He was a great man and well respected by all who worked with him. He was an extremely talented engineer who had great passion for his work and outstanding compassion for his colleagues.
Dr. Emery was one of the smartest men that I have ever known, and he took his work very seriously. He worked tirelessly to provide the best solutions for our organization, our customers, our industry, and our world. His expertise, commitment to excellence, and his pleasant and humble personality were all far-reaching and well known in our industry. He had a great influence on many people, and they knew that they could always trust and depend on him.
Dr. Emery was also a man of high integrity and a creative genius who inspired many in their careers. He was a naturally gifted teacher both in the academic setting as well as during lunch-and-learn sessions at work or through on-the-job training when burning the midnight oil on a test floor or lab setting. He was also a very practical man who could easily navigate his way through very complex challenges yet also had the compassion, knowledge, and expertise to patiently explain the complexities of his work so that the rest of us could understand as well.
We were blessed to have known and work with Dr. Emery, we learned many things from him, we admired him, and he inspired us to take on challenges no matter how complex, and to do the best we can at whatever we do! Dr. Tim Emery will be greatly missed but not forgotten. He left an indelible influence on our lives, and we are all better for it. I am grateful to have known and worked with Tim. Thank you, Mrs. Emery for sharing so much of your husband’s time and energy with us all.

I was introduced to Dr. Tim Emery in the late 90’s at Westinghouse as a supplier to them. He moved down from Pennsylvania to save us all from our daily struggles with high voltage electrical insulation design. Tim became my mentor and taught me a lot about life and generators. He was an amazing man who could not only explain high voltage but fix problems with his own hands. Tim changed the lives of many people and companies. His great leadership and accomplishments in the industry never changed his heart as Tim seemed to have the gift of all virtues. He mentored us all no matter our skill sets. Everyone loved Tim because he gave everyone his valuable time to listen and teach us a better way making our jobs better. Dr. Tim was one of the smartest men I will ever know with a big heart. I will miss him greatly along with many others at IEEE. Our prayers continue for the Emery family into the new year without him. Joyce, thank you for all your welcoming kindness over the years and sharing Tim’s time with us. May God bless you all.

A brilliant mind for sure, but Tim also had the soul of an artist.
Back when he was in high school, Tim was a member of the Beaver High School Marching Band, and as well; I seem to remember, a member of the Jazz Band - if not, he should have been.
His instrument of choice was the warm and mellow clarinet. Much like his personality, I always thought.
Tim, being that perfectionist, practiced his instrument most evenings at home. Mostly during my required 'bed time'. What a delight to hear him whip through his scales and advance to his more challenging lessons, improving night by night. At least my 7 year old mind thought so. I think I learned something about perseverance and goal setting over those nights filled with Tim's playing. But, he also planted a seed for a life time enjoyment of the clarinet and jazz.
I'm sure my brother is fiddling with his reed right now.

Thank you Uncle Larry. Dad and I shared his car when I was high school and I would always start the car after he had it and the radio would always blast out rock. But when we were in car with him. It was always NPR. Or some talk radio. But I knew he secretly listened to rock - loudly.

Tim was a great older brother from whom I learned a lot. In late high school and after, we owned a couple of cars together, literally held together by bailing wire and black magic body putty. He was much better at keeping these cars running than I was. He bought my first legal beer on my 21st birthday and let me stay in his apartment the summer I graduated from Duquesne and had a summer job at Corning Glass. He was hardly ever there as he was seriously dating Joyce at the time. It was always great for the four of us to spend time together at Bethany. I'll miss you brother. Love you, Mark
