For Grandpa
From Faith
I cannot hold your hand, Grandpa
I cannot teach you how to do the Jumble,
Or let you sit on my lap and play with my ears.
I cannot kiss you goodnight
Or make you toast in the morning.
I am nowhere near what I am mourning.
My tears will one day greet an emptier world.
If wind can carry a kiss, or a hug,
or just the endless love of a girl
looking up at her Grandpa,
I hope it carries it now.
I love you.
