Obituary of Very Fr. James Bryan Deep
The Very Reverend Fr. James Bryan Deep passed away peacefully in his 89th year on Friday August 26th. The beloved husband of the late Eloise Mae Deep (Mello), the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Deep of Bridgeville, and the oldest brother of 10 surviving siblings and 4 predeceased siblings. Loving Father of Ellen E. Hyatt (David) of Charleston, SC; James B. Deep Jr. (Mary) of Ft. Myers, FL; and Deborah A. Waterkotte (Peter) of Verona PA. Grandfather of Mark S. Deep (Kerry) of Cape Coral, F; Deana M. Fennick (Rob) of Butler, PA; Great grandfather of Dalton, Eli and Abi . He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Fr. James will be missed by his "cruise companion", Sigmund Hiller, Memphis, TN, and also by James Waterkotte Manges, as Fr. James was his "Big Pup". Fr. James was beloved by his many friends at Beechtree Commons of Verona where he resided for the past 9 years. He was a 1st Sargeant , and survivor of WW II serving in Hawaii and the South Pacific. He was foreman of the O.Hommel Company in Carnegie, PA. He was ordained to the priesthood of the Antiochian Orthodox Diocese in 1970 and then served as the priest at St. Anthony Orthodox Church in Butler, PA. In 1986 he was ordained to archpriest. Fr. James served as the past Orthodox Chaplin at the Veterans' Administration Hospital Services in Butler, PA and also the Memphis, TN. Viewing will be held at St.George Antiochian Church, 610 Dewey Avenue, in Bridgeville, on Sunday, August 28 from 6PM – 8 PM, at which time a Priest Funeral Service will be held. Divine Liturgy service will be held Monday 10 AM at St George Antiochian Church, followed by burial. Arrangements by Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333).
