Obituary of Sandra Lee Schafer RN, MN

Age 66, of Scott Twp., unexpectedly went to meet the Lord and her parents on December 7, 2018. Beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Rita (Weishaar) Schafer, Jr.; cherished sister of Carol (the late Lt. Col. Daniel) Conn, Joan (Don) Schrenker and Joe Schafer, III; devoted aunt to Colleen (Mark) Yarian, Sean (Angela) Conn, Kelly (Steve) Irvine, Scott (Erika) Schrenker and Shannon (Eric) Kumor and great aunt to Legion and Gabriel Yarian, Taylor and Molly Irvine and James Kumor; also survived by many loving friends and neighbors. Although her accomplishments were many, Sandra was humble. She was an Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist at Shadyside Hospital for 25 years and most recently the Director of Credentialing for Hospice and Palliative Care. She was a past President of ONS, the co-founder of Camp Raising Spirits, and a member of Our Lady of Grace Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Sandra was a mentor for countless nurses, she was a selfless caretaker of everyone she knew and a tireless worker. She loved to travel, was a wonderful cookie baker and was thoughtful and generous beyond imagination. She never forgot a birthday and found ways to make everyone feel special. Family and friends received on Tuesday from 6-8 PM and Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Warchol Funeral Home Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412.221.3333).
