Obituary of Roland Tremonti
Tremonti
Roland
Age 78, of Bridgeville, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017, at his home, after a very long illness. Beloved husband of Donna (Goldbach) Tremonti, loving father of Wayne Tremonti and Ronda (Jason) Poirier, and grandfather of Matthew, Michael, and Joseph, son of the late Richard F. Tremonti and Katherine (Ludwin) Tremonti, brother of Richard P. Tremonti (Kathleen),
After Roland served in the First Armored Division 73rd Artillery Unit of the U.S. Army during the Bay of Pigs and Cuban Missile Crisis Era, he returned to Bridgeville and formed a partnership with Vaun Hamlin, to manage and grow Hamlin’s Automotive in Kirwan Heights. Roland developed the old C.P. Mayer Brick Yard into an area of industrial buildings for rent. All his friends knew him as mechanically brilliant and he refined and utilized that gift throughout his life. He was an expert metal craftsman, making challenging repairs to difficult projects for many who became friends, such as those from the Ohio Valley BSA Owners Club. In his spare time Roland became an exceptional private pilot. Roland was the initial investor and president preserving Finleyville Airport from loss at auction to land development in 1989. His goal was to maintain a user friendly “grass roots” airport, as Stanley Siggins the previous owner had done, where young guys and gals could afford to learn to fly, buy an airplane and hanger, and keep private flying alive. One of the many highlights of Roland’s later life was traveling with Donna through the United States River System all the way to southern Florida and back via a house boat without any accident, incident or mechanical problem. Roland was a member of The American Legion Post 940 West Brownsville, PA. Friends received Thursday, 2-4 and 6-8 PM, in the Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, 11 AM, at St. Barbara Church, Bridgeville, with the Very Rev. Frederick L. Cain as Celebrant. Interment with full military honors to follow in St. Barbara Cemetery, Bridgeville. Memorials may be made to The American Legion Post 940, 800 Middle St., Brownsville, PA 15417.
