Obituary of Joan A. Hudacek
Joan Hudacek
Age 83, of Bridgeville, formerly of Upper St. Clair, passed April 13, 2017, the same date of her departed mother, Rose Varlotto, 25 years earlier. Also preceded in death by her father, Joe Varlotto. For 60 years, Joan was the beloved wife of Nicholas Hudacek. She was a loving and devoted mother to Nick Hudak, Rosanne Warman (Dean Labby) and Carla Stowe (Donald). A caring sister to Phyllis Hwostow (Late Tony) and thoughtful aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. She was an ever so loving “Grams” to Derek Warman and to her deceased grandson Michael (Nica Thomas), John Patrick (Jenea) and Michael’s and Johnny’s mother Nancy McMichael. She was a wonderful Great Grandma to Anthony, Nicolas, Aislynn, Cecelia, Colton, Jack, and Theodore. Joan was a successful business woman for many years, working first in her parents’ diner, next as the secretary to the President of Gordon’s Shoes, later a lifelong musician in her band - The JEDs, and finally a successful realtor. Joan was an avid Pittsburgh fan, equally cheering on the Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins. She was in attendance during the Pirates’ 1960 World Series to see Game 7, ninth inning homerun hit by Mazeroski. The traditional call to her daughter in Houston, Texas to celebrate a Malkin goal will be greatly missed. Joan was accomplished in many areas, but her true passion was spending time with her family especially at one of her many famous meals. We always hoped the meal was followed with her delicious pizzels. Family and friends are invited to visit and share in the celebration of Joan’s life on Wednesday, April 19th, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 20, at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Child Parish, Bridgeville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Family Hospice of Mt. Lebanon for the kind and loving care they provided.
