Obituary of Margaret R.
Age 80, of Bridgeville, on Monday, November 21, 2016, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 29, 1935, in Sharon Hill, PA. A daughter of Robert Russell Rice and Anne Louise Biester. In 1957 Peg married William Thomas Whiteman and moved to Pittsburgh in 1959 to raise her family. She worked for 10 years at Revco Drug as store manager. After the death of her husband in 1984, she opened “Meg’s Village Inn”, Bridgeville, where she enjoyed serving her customers and was known as “Mom” to everyone. After selling the restaurant she emerged herself back into genealogy, which was her life’s work. She would work 5 to 6 hours daily, researching her family history. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking everyone Christmas cookies. Above all she loved her family. Mother of Kathleen (George) Yonker and Ruth Whiteman, mother to Patricia Rider and Melodie Jones, sister of Judy (Joe) Lindsay, Barbara Fanelli and Georgia “Mikki” (Gary) Wilkins, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William, a son William Thomas Whiteman II and a great-grandchild Finnley Joseph Brondo. Family and friends are invited to share in a Memorial Service, Saturday, November 26, at 11 AM, in the Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333). In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Washington City Mission or the Bridgeville Public Library.
