Obituary of Edward J. Wilcox
Age 91, of South Fayette Twp., peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2016, with family by his side at Family Hospice and Palliative Care. He was born on November 25, 1924, in Carnegie. A son of the late Richard Jackson and Jeanette (Baer) Wilcox. He served 3 years during WW II, as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army. Following his honorable discharge, he worked as an engineer for Bell of Pennsylvania for 42 years. After retirement he became an inventor for Raychem Corporation for the next 10 years. Mr. Wilcox was a proud member of the National V.F.W. Band Post # 47, Uniontown. He was a talented clarinet player. He marched in the Canonsburg 4th of July Parade for many years, up until the age of 84. He most enjoyed playing concerts at the VA Hospital for patients and their families. He was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Bridgeville. Deceased in addition to his parents is a sister; Katherine Jeanette Wilcox, two brothers; William and Phillip Wilcox, his first wife; Darlene Wilcox and second wife; Normalee “Dee” Wilcox. He is survived by daughter; Linda E. McCaskey, two sons; David E. Wilcox and Mark E. (Susan) Wilcox, grandchildren; Nathan and Christopher McCaskey, Jake, Jenna and Jesse Wilcox, a great grandson and granddaughter, also several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his cherished friend Lois Kirsopp, who brought him much comfort to him in his final days. Throughout his life he was known as a “Jack of all trades”. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Friends received Tuesday, 2-4 and 6-8 PM, in the Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333), where a service will be held Wednesday at 11 AM.
