Obituary of Leroy Davis
Deacon Leroy "Rick" Davis, was promoted to Glory on
Tuesday June 14th with love ones by his side after a brave
battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was born March 27,1938
to the late Harry Davis Sr and Catherine (Gaye) Davis.
At a young age Leroy married his teenage sweetheart
Gailya Hord they resided in Braddock Pa and from that
union was born 7 children. He and Gailya remained good
friends throughout their lives.
He later married Katherine Richardson his friend and love
of over 57 years. They resided together in Cuddy/Morgan
From that union was born 4 children. When Leroy's wife
was diagnosed with ALS he opted out of his own treatment
so that he could take care of her.
Leroy was employed by Teledyne Steel Mill in Homestead
as a machine operator. After the mill closed he then went
on to work for Cauley Detective Agency as Head of
Security at D.L Clarke Building on the Northside of Pgh.
He retired in 2008.
Deacon Davis was a long time member of The First
Baptist Church of Bridgeville. Where he faithfully served in
many capacities including: usher, trustee, choir member,
repair man and the Deacon Board. He began Deacon
training at First Baptist Church of Bridgeville. He and his
wife Katherine then moved to Flovilla Ga. Where he
continued his studies and was ordained as a Deacon by
Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson Ga under the
leadership of Rev James Walker. After returning to
Bridgeville he served with the Deacons at his home
church. Deacon Davis also served with The Greater
Pittsburgh Deacon Devotional Leaders.
Leroy loved music and was known for singing his favorite
song "Falling in Love with Jesus". His favorite scripture
was 23rd Psalm
In addition to his parents, Leroy was proceeded in death
by his brothers Harry Davis Jr and Norman Davis. Sister
Lorna Johnson. Remaining to carry his love are sisters
Harriet Robinson, Diana (Steve)Young and Rosemary
Meredith, 11 children Bryan Davis, Ricky Davis, John
Charles Davis(Varnessa) Clara Davis, December
Treece(Frederick) Trana Strothers, Kimberly
Terrell(Gerhard), Marcus Davis (Joanne)Deena Clarke, Toi
Davis and Rev. Melanie Davis (Sidney) 31 grandchildren,
great grandchildren and great great children as well as a
host of nieces, nephews family and friends
