Obituary of Joseph M. Brigich

Age 83, of South Fayette Twp., on March 4, 2016. Beloved husband of Dolores “DE” Brigich and the late Louise Brigich, loving father of Karen (the late Gary) Randall, Joseph Brigich Jr. and Kathy (Paul) Sharkady, stepfather of Matthew (Tisha) Heufelder and Todd (Julie) Heufelder, also 3 grandchildren: Christopher & Brianna Sharkady and Mackenzie Randall and 4 step grandchildren: Nick, Zachary, Troy and Jolina Heufelder. Brother of Marko (Marilyn) Brigich Jr., Catherine (John) Obenour and the late John and Carl Brigich. Joseph is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Brigich owned and operated Brigich Brothers Dairy, Cecil and later retired as Vice-President of the Croatian Fraternal Union of America. A lifelong CFU member, the Vice President was enrolled in nest #272, at birth and the CFU has continued to be a way of life throughout the years, becoming President of Lodge 567, Canonsburg for 55 years. Also, serving as President for United CFU Four County Lodges. In 1978 was elected Director of Member Services by the National Board. In 1983 the title changed to Vice President/Member Services, which he held until retirement in 2011. Joseph was a honors graduate of Chartiers Houston High School. He was also a member of a number of fraternal societies and had been active in National Fraternal Congress, PA Fraternal Congress, Fraternal Societies of Greater Pittsburgh, which he served as President and Vice President, and as Vice President for the National Fraternal Federation of Croatian Americans. Joseph received numerous awards and accommodations throughout his lifetime, including Man of the Year by United CFU County Lodges as well as Man of the Year for the Fraternal Societies for Pittsburgh. Friends received Monday, 2-8 PM, in the Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, 10 AM, in Holy Child Parish, Bridgeville. If desired, memorials may be made to CFU Scholarship Fund, in memory of Joseph.
