I was saddened to hear of Kathy’s passing. My heart goes out to all of you in the Diehl family. Kathy was such a beautiful free spirit! Patty was one of my best friends in high school, and Kathy often hung out with us. There were so many fun memories with our animals, mainly cats and horses. Kathy had a huge cat named Pepper. Every time I would visit the “House of Diehl”, Pepper cat would be laying around her neck like a fur coat. You could tell that he adored her.
Once, Kathy rode my mare in a western class at a horse show. The mare was only 3 and pretty green broke, but Kathy handled her with the finesse of a pro. She was so perceptive and gentle. She was like that with any creature she met. But her wild spirit and fun loving nature is what I will remember most. Her infectious laughter, the fish faces, the lemon smiles, balloon hats & learning to juggle. She will be missed. I am so sorry for your loss…My thoughts and prayers go out to your family during this heart breaking time.

So sorry to hear about Kathy. She was a very sweet and warm person. She opened her house up to me when Jeff's father had his accident and was hospitalized at Grant Trauma Center so I wouldn't have to drive home or stay in hotel since I lived an hour away. She was always so cheerful and laughing. Enjoyed being around her. My thoughts and prayers go out for her 3 children and her family. What a lovely lady she was.

My heart and prayers go out to the family especially her three beautiful children. I met Kathy in Tampa 25 years ago. We were both college students at USF working together at the local walk in clinic. With her dynamic, animated and witty personality, we instantly became the best of friends. I have truly been blessed with a friendship that has taken us through the college years to the mommy years, through all the ups and downs of life, the good times and the sad times. What I will miss most about Kathy is our countless hours of phone conversations. Which BTW... our record was 5 1/2 hours. Hours and hours were spent talking about her beautiful children, her crazy cats, her nursing stories and even what she ate for dinner. I will cherish these conversations for a lifetime.
I've always called Kathy my best friend but she was more than that to me. She was my confidant, my counselor, my life coach, my biggest cheerleader but most of all she was truly my Soul Sister.
I Love you with all my Heart.
Blessings, Darla McLain

Dear Diehl Family,
I am just so saddened. My heart goes out to your wonderful family and those three beautiful children. As you know, Kathy was a huge part of my teenage and college years. Somehow our paths went different ways after college, but she blessed my life so much. That beautiful smile and silly sense of humor had a way of radiating right out of her. We who were lucky enough to be her friend or roommate knew that life was always fun with her around. Whether it was dressing like crazy ladies and hitting the grocery store at midnight, or bringing a ten pound bowl of mashed potatoes to college parties as finger food, her quirky humor brought me so much joy. She was simply magnetic and beautiful inside and out to me.
Her artistic ability always amazed me. I have many memories of her always having an idea to make something or other (this was before the internet and Pinterest were around). She would decorate our apartment on a tight budget in very creative ways. One decorating memory I have is of Kathy dying sheets, ripping them up and weaving them in such a way to make artistic wall hangings. Or there was the time she collected junk (i.e. shoes, a ten-speed bike, an oar, a tv with rabbit ears) from area garage sales, spray painted them all white, and strategically hung them on a white wall. So clever.
I am thankful that God put Kathy in my life for such a time. She had a way of blessing others along her path, and I was lucky enough to be one of them she blessed with her friendship. I learned so much from her about life, beauty, love and genuine friendship. I pray that our Heavenly Father brings your family His loving comfort especially as you recall the wonderful memories Kathy made with all of us she encountered. I know those memories will always bring me joy, and I will never forget her. May you rest in peace, dear friend.
With Love, Sympathy & Prayer,
Kathy McGregor Wagner
