Obituary of Theodore L. Thompson

Thompson Theodore L. “Ted” Age 71, of Dormont, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, on January 6, 2016. Former husband of Sandra Eritano, loving father of Theodore L. (Tammy) Thompson, Jr. and Tammy (Joseph) Speeler, beloved son of the late Albert and Katherine Thompson, brother of Diane (John) O’Donnell, Susan (Joe Go) Thompson and the late William and Thomas (Mary) Thompson, also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Thompson owned Ted Thompson Heating and Cooling in Dormont for many years. A brother of Lodge no. 45, F&AM;, Pittsburgh, a member of Greater Pittsburgh Police Emerald Society and the Academy of Science and Art of Pittsburgh, the Photo Section, where he served as a board member. He was also a founding member of the Italian Heritage Society, where he was honored as the 2010 “Man of the Year”. Ted was truly one of a kind. He devoted his life to helping others. Often referred to as "The Mayor of Dormont", there didn't seem to be a person around that didn't know or love him. He proudly lived, owned and operated his family business in Dormont for over 25 years. He spent those years going above and beyond to ensure that his customers were getting great work at a fair price, sometimes to at no benefit to him. Their satisfaction was all that mattered to him. His family will continue to honor that and him by maintaining that same level of service. Ted also had a love for photography. He was blessed over the course of his life to have assisted in the photographing of The Pittsburgh Steelers and The Pittsburgh Penguins upon numerous organizations and charities. He donated countless hours and pictures to so many of these organizations. He loved doing weddings, reunions, family portraits and pretty much anything that had sentimental value. He loved nothing more than to capture a priceless moment for people to have for the rest of their lives. It's what made him happy. He never really cared about making money. In his eyes, his wonderful family, incredible friends and helping others made him the richest man in the world. Even though he never felt like he made an impact on this world, he certainly left a footprint that could never be filled. Gone But Never Forgotten. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clelian Heights School for Exceptional Children, 135 Clelian Heights Lane, Greensburg, PA 15601. Arrangements by Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333).
