Obituary of Marjorie Kay McClure
Marjorie K. (Harp) McClure, 72, of Mt. Lebanon, PA¸ passed away October 7, 2015 in Magee-Womens Hospital after surviving metastatic breast cancer for nearly 20 years. Marjorie was born on June 1, 1943 in Liberal, KS to the late Lloyd and Elsie Harp. Marjorie is survived by her husband of 51 years, Richard McClure of Mt. Lebanon, PA and her three children: Mark McClure of Portland, Oregon; Brian McClure of Gwangju, South Korea; and Kevin McClure of Lafayette, California. She also is survived by 5 grandchildren: Tyler; Jared; Juno; Owen; and Brady. Marjorie is survived by her sister Margaret "Maggie" (Harp) Davie, of Manhattan, KS. She graduated from Southwestern College (class of 1965) and from the University of Pittsburgh with an Occupational Therapy major (1988). After being diagnosed with breast cancer, Marjorie became passionate about developing treatments and working with breast cancer patients suffering from lymphedema complications. She obtained the top credentials for lymphedema therapists and excelled treating breast cancer patients with lymphedema, forming a special, caring connection since she considered herself a "sister" to them. She spoke at national and international meetings as a lymphedema expert and at the age of 65 she received the "Best New Investigator Award" at the 8th Annual National Lymphedema Network conference. Marjorie always put her family first and was most proud of being a mother to her three sons whom she loved deeply and provided unwavering motherly love.
