Age 92, surrounded by his loving family on October 5, 2015. Lifelong Bridgeville area resident and member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Edward was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and brother. He graduated from South Fayette High School in 1941 and served as Sgt. with the 36th Photo Recon Squadron of the U.S. Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during WWII. For years he was a member of the Bridgeville Planning Commission and Parks and Recreation committee, being a key figure in the construction of Bridgeville's Chartiers Park, where the Ed Schneider Field is named in his honor. Edward owned a thriving general construction company, completing both residential and commercial projects all over the Pittsburgh area, and served on the Board of Directors of Bridgeville Savings and Loan Association. He was well-known and admired by many as an honest, hard-working, and skilled businessman, and by many more as a loyal and dedicated friend. He is son of Harry and Belle (Lesnett) Schneider; husband of the late Eileen (Crum) Schneider; brother of the late Clarinda (the late William Smith and Herbert Host) Smith Host, the late William (the late Betty) Schneider, Richard (the late Mary) Schneider, and James Schneider; father of Sylvia (Bill) Maston, M.D., of Philadelphia, Rebecca (Dr. Joseph ) Findley, of Upper St. Clair and John (Kate) Schneider, of Bridgeville; grandfather of eight grandchildren; Joseph (Amy, M.D.) Findley, M.D., Lt. William Maston, USN, Andrew Maston, Dr. Brittany (Matthew) Findley Kikta, Alexandra Findley, 2nd Lt. Daniel Maston, USMC, Grace Schneider and Bridget Schneider; and is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Friends received Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM, in the Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333). Additional visitation Friday morning, 10 - 11 AM, in Bethany Presbyterian Church, at which time a funeral service will be held at 11 AM. Memorials to Bridgeville V.F.D. or Bethany Presbyterian Church.
