Obituary of Lena C. Carrozza
A life-long resident of Bridgeville, PA passed away on June 30, 2015 surrounded by family.
Born in 1920, Lena worked at her parents' local produce store on Washington Ave. before earning a business degree from Robert Morris College. In 1986, Lena ended her lifelong career as an executive secretary when she retired from Ryan Homes after 28 years, a trusted confidant of Ed Ryan and a valued colleague in the Ryan Homes family.
Many of Lena's proudest accomplishments are rooted in her love and devotion to her family, friends, community, country and God. In 2013 she was a founding sponsor of the Flight 93 National Memorial, and devoted countless hours to preserving the history of the town she called home, serving as a Director of the Bridgeville Historical Society. She practiced her love of knitting as a member of the Holy Child Parish Prayer Shawl group.
Lena loved without need or expectation, bringing an immeasurable amount of happiness to those in her life. The wisdom she shared and selflessness she showed will live on in a lifetime of cherished memories by all those she touched.
Her spirit is carried on by her surviving sister Dolores Palumbo (Carrozza), nieces and nephews Michael J. Carrozza, Lisa Herbick, Denise Ahrndt, Jim Palumbo, Susan Edinger, Sandra Edinger; nine great nieces and nephews, and an extended family of relatives and friends.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Warchol Funeral Home Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333).
