RITA J. (Krueger)
Of Collier Twp., formerly of Rockville Centre, NY, on April 18, 2015 at the age of 75. Born on April 4, 1940 in Emporia, KS, daughter of the late James A. and Marie S. (Orton) Krueger; beloved wife of the late Lawrence F. Larkin; loving mother of Kristen (Brian) Stewart of Ben Avon Hts. and Ann (Bill) Fichter of Ross Twp.; sister of Jacqueline (William) Bassett of San Francisco, CA and James E. (Marilyn) Krueger of Emporia, KS; cherished Nana of Caroline Stewart and also survived by devoted nieces and nephews, William (Jennifer) Bassett, John (Alexandra) Bassett, Jacqueline (Justin) Mackey, Rachael (Adrian) Pop, Sean (Elizabeth) Lane, Mariellen Lane and Neil (Kathleen) Lane. Rita earned her Master's Degree from the University of Kansas. She worked as a social worker, rising to become the Vice President of St. Mary's Children's Home in Syossett, NY. Rita was a member of many professional organizations related to social services. Among the recognitions for her achievements, she was inducted into the Emporia High School Hall of Fame. She was actively involved in community organizations and was a tireless volunteer at St. Barbara Church and the Center for Compassionate Care. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the Warchol Funeral Home Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 AM at St. Barbara Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Barbara Church, 45 Prestley Road Bridgeville, PA 15017 or Family Hospice and Palliative Care, 50 Moffett Street Pittsburgh, PA 15243.
