Obituary of Gloria Oddis

At age 93, Gloria died on December 2, 2014, and she will be truly missed by her husband, Colonel Chester E. ("Chet") Oddis, her son Chet (Elaine) Oddis and her daughter Lisa (Chris) Caruso as well as her six grandchildren: Cara Caruso, David (Megan) Caruso, Michael Caruso, Christopher Oddis, Sara (John, children-Roman and Amelia) Taormina and Matthew Oddis; sister of the late James Talotta, the late Louis Talotta and Anthony Talotta. Gloria grew up in Carnegie and was described as "powerful" in her high school yearbook. Married in 1948, Gloria and Chet celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on November 25th. After many years of traveling with her husband in the U.S. Air Force, Gloria and Chet lived in Green Tree for 58 years. Gloria was a dental assistant until she was almost 80 years old and touched countless lives by her genuine compassion, whether it was preparing meals, baking cookies or cakes or sharing her Christian faith. Friends may call on Thursday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM at the Warchol Funeral Home, 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333). A Liturgy Service will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made either to the Alzheimer's Association tribute page online or mailed to P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090; or American Legion Charities, P.O. Box 36162, Indianapolis, IN 46236.
