William D. Vosel, Jr.
William "Bill" Vosel, Jr. (also known by his youthful friends as "Sneako") , 80, of Canonsburg died Sunday, March 23, 2014, surrounded by his family.
He was Born November 29, 1933, in Bridgeville, a son of William D. Vosel, Sr. and Elizabeth Pantner Vosel.
He graduated from Bridgeville High School and Muskingum College. He served in the U. S. Army in Korea in 1957-58 for 18 months. He taught and coached football in Cambridge, Loudonville, Mansfield and Wellington, OH where he received the Lorain County Coach of the Year and Northeastern Ohio Coach of the Year honors for leading the Wellington Dukes to a Lakeland Conference championship in 1974. He moved to Canonsburg in 1975 where he taught and coached football at Canon McMillan High School. He retired in 1993.
In his younger days he was an avid bowler and won many tournaments. He played the ukulele and loved to sing. Golf and gardening were his passions, and he enjoyed canning and cooking. Reading and crossword puzzles were a favorite pastime. He loved the outdoors and walks on the Montour Trail with his dog Annie. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved visits with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann, and three children, Steve Vosel of Houston, PA, and Dan (Shannon) Vosel of Cincinnati, OH, and Laura (Jim) Reynolds of Canonsburg, a brother Bob Vosel of Bridgeville, and nine grandchildren - Leigh Ann, Jacob, and Jesse Reynolds of Canonsburg and Neil, John, Hannah, Madeline, Nick and Joe Vosel of Cincinnati.
Friends will be received at Warchol Funeral Home, 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, from 2 - 4 and 7 to 9 on Thursday, with services to be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m., in The Bible Chapel, McMurray, with the Rev. Wayne Johnson officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment to follow with Full Military Honors in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp.
