Obituary of Robert Frank Shaw
Age 92, of Bridgeville, passed away on October 19, 2024. Bob was the cherished husband of Mary S. (Ford) Shaw for 69 years before her passing and a wonderful father to Dr. Linda M. (J. Patrick) Conlon, Robert J. (Linda) Shaw and Michael E. Shaw. His seven grandchildren, Erin Conlon, Shannon (Ryan) Carrozzi, Dr. Colleen Conlon, Adrienne (Scott) Gallagher, Warren Shaw, Daniel Shaw and Christen (Matt) Mercer were the light of his life along with his five great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Reed Carrozzi, Declan Gallagher and Alessa and Sylas Mercer. Bob served four years in the Air Force during the Korean War as an Airman 2nd class with high security clearance. Later, annual trips to Kennywood with his grandchildren and pool parties were some of Bob’s favorite family activities along with an open-door invitation on Christmas Eve for friends and neighbors. When he wasn’t entertaining, he was busy pouring concrete, building porches and game rooms or remodeling kitchens and bathrooms. Bob was a skilled carpenter and DIY’er regardless of the size or scope of the project and enjoyed helping family, friends and neighbors. He was also thankful for his wonderful and caring neighbors (Ray and Joann) who were like family. Bob was predeceased by four siblings. In his younger days, Bob worked as a roofer before his long career as a steelworker. He worked at American Steel Band, J&L Steel, and retired after 31 years at Union Electric Steel Company. He spent time on weekends professionally installing television antennas before retiring to travel and spend time with his family. During retirement, Bob enjoyed working part time for BBL Leasing and Colussy Chevrolet driving all over the region to retrieve expired contract leased vehicles.
