Obituary of Mary Louise (Sievertson) Keller
Dr. Mary Lou (Sievertson) Keller, Ph.D., R.N. and educator, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2024 at the age of 90 with her family present at Masonic Village. Mary Lou was born in Pittsburgh on December 8, 1933 to the late Allan and Mary (Evans) Sievertson. Mary Lou was a 1951 graduate of Brentwood High School and a 1954 graduate of Homestead Hospital School of Nursing. Her quest for knowledge continued and she obtained her BSN, MSN, and CRNP from the University of Pittsburgh. She also received her Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Philosophy. Mary Lou was passionate about nursing. Her career began as a staff nurse and continued in Nursing Education as an educator at the University of Pittsburgh, Edinboro University, Washington Hospital School of Nursing and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, until she retired in 1999. Upon retirement, Mary Lou and her husband spent 5 years at Friendship Village in Upper St. Clair, moving to the Masonic Village at Sewickley in 2004. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau. She was a former member of Christ Church at Grove Farm and the Non-Denominational Church at Masonic Village. Mary Lou enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading, participating in the book club and music and singing. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald H. Keller, who she married on July 9, 1955, her son Eric Keller, and her sister Joanne Hall. She is survived by her daughters, MaryAnne Boff (the late Michael Boff) and Donna Mittner (the late John Mittner); five grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and her brother Allan Sievertson, Jr.
