Obituary of Robert M. Sharp
Robert (Bob) Myron Sharp, 86, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2024, in Pittsburgh, PA. Born September 7, 1937, to Myron & Isabel Sharp, Bob is survived by his son, Robert Sharp (Jamie) of South Fayette; daughter, Heather Gossett (Anthony) of Owensboro, KY, and five grandchildren; Logan Sharp, Tyler Sharp, Victoria Gossett, Grace Gossett, and Kenneth Gossett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, and his sister, Marjorie Carroll.
Bob graduated from Dormont HS in 1955, received scholarships to get his BS- Industrial Engineering degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1959, and then his MBA from Carnegie Mellon University (formerly Carnegie Tech), in 1961. He worked for several companies in the steel/automotive industry, for more than 30 years, in various positions related to finance. After that, Bob could not sit around during his retirement, working as a delivery driver for 25 years, until officially retiring when the pandemic hit.
Bob lived in Pittsburgh all his life, other than brief stints in Hampton, SC, and Rochester, MI. He was a long-time, active member of Wallace Memorial United Presbyterian Church. Next to family, Bob’s #1 passion was playing baseball, and later softball. His other passion was dartball, playing for more than 60 years in a South Hills church league. He always provided for and protected those he loved, and would lend a helping hand to anyone who asked. He lived his life the way he was raised- he believed a man takes care of his family, puts them above himself, and makes whatever sacrifices necessary to give them a better life. He did that without hesitation.
A memorial service will be held in Pittsburgh, PA at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in his name, to The Miracle League of the South Hills. Arrangements entrusted to the Warchol Funeral Home Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412.221.3333).
