Obituary of John J. Janeda, Jr.
Age 94, of South Fayette Twp., succumbed to esophageal cancer on July 24, 2024, in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loving family. John was predeceased by Dorothy, his loving wife of 60 years. He will be forever held in the hearts of his surviving family, daughter Jackie (Dennis) Barnabei and Janet (Rob) Stolze, and granddaughters Brittany (Tom Higgs) and Chelsea (Elvin) Rivera, honorary daughter Debbie May and honorary granddaughter Lauren May.John was the loving brother of Anna Mae Ventimiglio and the late Betty Adams and Margaret Dobis. John was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as an ammunition specialist in the U.S. Army. He worked as a foreman of the P&LE Railroad for over 30 years. He was an avid hunter and a Captain in the long-running Holy Souls Bowling League. John was a passionate Pennsylvania lottery player, loved gardening, and was known for his prized German tomatoes. He was a huge Pittsburgh sports fan and closely followed the Penguins, Steelers, and Pirates. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Gallagher Hospice for their loving care and support during John’s final days. Family and friends received on Sunday from 2-6 PM at the Warchol Funeral Home Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412.221.3333), where a Blessing Service will be held on Monday at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
