Obituary of Martha (Bednar) DeFrancesco
Martha Bednar DeFrancesco, 91, of South Fayette, PA, passed peacefully on June 27, 2024 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born October 24, 1932, in Gillespie, PA a daughter of the late Andrew and Helen Bednar. Martha graduated from Marion
High School and was married to Michael DeFrancesco on September 1, 1951. Their marriage spanned 72 years until Mike’s passing in February of 2024.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Valosen, her husband John; and two brothers Andrew R. Bednar, his wife Sylvia, Lawrence Bednar; and Mike’s four brothers, Leonard, Angelo, Samuel and Joseph DeFrancesco.
Martha and Mike built a home in Fayette City and started a family that has grown to three generations with their daughters, Michelle Aloe (Andrew), Milissa Bush (Gerald), Mariangela Lorence (Kevin), grandchildren Amy ( Garrett) and Drew Aloe, Jordan Bush (Meagan Morrell) and Jillian Bush Scruggs, Emily Lorence Ragan (John) and Annabel Lorence and great grandchildren Ayla, Avry and Arlo Gorenski; Shane Schulte; Juliette, Vivienne, Theodore and Avrielle Bush; and Cassandra Ragan. She will always be remembered as Mimi to her six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was well known for her special “Mimi” cookies.
Family and friends received on Monday from 3-7 PM at the Warchol Funeral Home Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412.221.3333). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 AM at Holy Child Church of Corpus Christi Parish. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Corpus Christi Parish.
