She is preceded in death by her husband, Melbourne, parents Mariano and Domenicuccia D’Amico Scarsellato, and siblings, Marie, Vincent, Sebastian, John, Guilda, Florence, Frank, and Erma. She is survived by her loving daughters, Joan McGeary of Harrisburg, Constance (Kenny Self) Jawelak-Sax of Upper St. Clair, grandsons Scott (Kaitlin) McGeary of Harrisburg, Marc (Mimi) McGeary of Boston, MA, and great-grandson Scott Jamison, “SJ,” McGeary of Harrisburg.
Liz was born and raised in Canonsburg and graduated from Canonsburg High School. She became a proud graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. In 1955, she married Melbourne and they resided in Peters Township where they raised their two daughters. Liz lived in Peters Township for 40 years until relocating to Upper St. Clair, where she lived for the last three decades. She loved being a Registered Nurse and continued to work well into her 80s, later caring for family members, friends, and whoever needed help. Liz later volunteered as an RN and held a current license to practice until she died. She is remembered for her many passions: her love of learning and active participation in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes at Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh, her adoration of travel with many trips to Europe and Alaska, her proficiency and affection for cooking and entertaining, and her commitment to volunteering in her community through the United Seniors of Upper St. Clair where she held numerous offices over her 23-year involvement. She loved cheering for her Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins but especially loved supporting her daughters and grandsons through all their life pursuits in education, sports, extracurricular activities, and professional endeavors.
