Obituary of Joseph John Hancock
Age 92, of Indiana, PA, formerly of Carnegie, PA, on March 5, 2024. Born January 30, 1932, son of the late David and Anna (Schwartzmiller) Hancock. Beloved husband of Joan Mott and the late Margaret Hancock; loving father of David (Marsha) Hancock of Hendersonville, PA, Martin (Mary) Hancock of New Eagle, PA, and the late Larry Hancock; step-father of John (Tina) McQuillen of Indiana, PA and Julia (Allen) Williams of Indiana, PA; cherished grandfather of Rachel Vega, Erick Hancock, Jared Hancock, Neil Hancock and step grandfather of Chrissy Williams, Casey McQuillen, Michael Williams, and Daniel Williams; great grandfather of Nathan and Cora; brother of Robert (Nancy) Hancock of Carnegie, PA, Jack (Karen) Hancock of South Fayette, PA, and the late Catherine (Bob) Douglas, Richard Hancock, David Hancock, and Jean Hilpert; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Joseph was a graduate of Scott Twp. high school, class of 1951, and a veteran of the Korean War, serving 4 years with the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sergeant. He was a lifetime member, past commander (1994-1997), and member of the Honor Guard of VFW Post 764, McMurray, PA. He transferred to VFW Post 1989, Indiana, PA, serving with the Honor Guard, and was also a member of the American Legion, Post 141, Indiana, PA. Joseph retired from Mayview State Hospital, Bridgeville, PA. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Black Lick, PA.
Family and friends received on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 10 AM until the time of service at 12 PM at the Warchol Funeral Home Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412.221.3333).Interment with full military honors to follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp.
