Obituary of Richard L. "Dick" Oddi

On October 31, 2023, Richard “Dick” Lewis Oddi, 93 years old, left us and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His wit, humor, and kindness will be missed by his wife of 65 years, “It seems like only yesterday.” He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Oddi, his children Diane Jones (Fred), Richard Oddi (Mary), his seven grandchildren Jennifer Diday (Larry), Mark Jones (Keelan), Bethany Krzywiecki (Ted), Richard Oddi (Jennifer), Stephanie Oddi, James Oddi, and Joseph Oddi, and five great grandchildren Ellie, Eli, Richard, Holly, and Rowan. He is also survived by “the queen of back rubs,” his sister-in-law, Darlene Stuart. He enjoyed over thirty years of retirement from Mayview State Hospital, taking many family vacations, cruises, and taking his grandchildren to parks, playgrounds, and wherever they wanted, only stopping at stop lights “that weren’t going to get any greener.” He was a veteran of the United States Navy, where he served as a Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class, and was stationed in Key West, Florida, during the Korean War where, with his usual humor, he said, “Fidel Castro never tried anything while I was in Key West.” Friends received Thursday, 2-4 and 6-8 pm, at the Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333), where a service will be held Friday at 8:45 am.
