Obituary of Glenn W. Simpson
Glenn W. Simpson went to be with his Lord at 10:50 on June 13, 2023. He passed away peacefully in his home with two of his children at his side.
He was born May 23, 1936, a son of the late J. Floyd Simpson and Mildred W. Simpson. Mr. Simpson grew up in Hills Station, PA along with his 7 siblings and enjoyed many adventures there. He graduated from Cecil High School in 1955, Penn State in 1961 and Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1971.
He taught Art at Canonsburg Jr. High and middle school for 29 years and retired in 1993. He served as Lt. in the U. S. Army from 1962 to 1964 in the 2nd Armored Division.
On August 22, 1965, he married Martha Getz. They celebrated 57 years of dedication and love on their anniversary last year.
He was a life-long active member of Fawcett United Methodist Church and was honored to serve in many positions from custodian, Sunday school teacher, to lay leader. He loved the Lord and his church “family”.
Mr. Simpson had many interests. He was an avid gardener who grew many vegetables and shared his harvest with family, friends, and those lucky enough to have stopped at his vegetable stand. He enjoyed sketching nature; especially on the vacations he took. He deeply loved his family and the many picnics and parties he shared with them. His humor brightened the lives of those close to him.
Deceased in addition to his parents are his brothers Jack Simpson and Lynford Simpson; sisters Evalyn Richards, Dolores Manzini and Sadie Fleckenstein. Surviving are brothers Kenneth Simpson of McMurray, PA, and Louis Simpson of Glendale, AZ.
Surviving are two sons, Robert (Amber) Simpson of Austin, TX and Philip Simpson of Bridgeville, PA; a daughter Amy (Gregg) Lunn of Monongahela, PA; five grandsons, Brian (Kerry) Simpson of Charlotte, NC, John Simpson of McDonald, PA, Caleb Lunn of Wynantskill, NY, Nathan Lunn and Aaron Lunn of Monongahela, PA, and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Warchol Funeral Home Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412.221.3333), where a service will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM.
