Obituary of Theresa Nancy Hickman

Theresa Nancy (Zajicek) Hickman passed away on May 12, 2023 in Reading, Pennsylvania. Nancy, as she was known throughout her life, was 83 years old. She was the loving mother of Andrew Hickman of Arvada, Colorado and Terrance Hickman (Lynn) of Reading, grandmother of Henry, Ian, Sierra, Julia, Parker and Joseph, and sister of the late Mary Jo Balsarini. Born in Carnegie, Pennsylvania, Nancy was the daughter of Paul and Johanna Zajicek. She was educated at St. Luke’s Grade and High School. After graduating from nursing school, she worked as an RN at St. Clair Hospital and then enlisted in the Air Force, serving for 8 plus years as a nurse in Thailand, the Philippines, and Germany. Upon her discharge, she had attained the rank of Captain. Later in life, Nancy returned home to Pittsburgh, volunteered at St. Clair Hospital and the Bridgeville Public Library, and then moved to Colorado and then Reading to be with her children and grandchildren. Nancy will be buried with Military Honors at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 12:30 pm.
