Obituary of David Palmer
David Palmer, retired counselor for Catholic Cemeteries of Pittsburgh, and USAF Korean War veteran, died March 15, 2023 in Pittsburgh, PA.
Mr. Palmer, of Upper St. Clair, PA, was previously employed as Deputy Director of Communications for Allegheny County, as Editorial Assistant with US Steel Corporation, and as a Reporter with the Sun-Telegraph newspaper. Mr. Palmer received several awards for his journalism during his career, including the Golden Quill award. Mr. Palmer served as a 1st Lieutenant for the US Airforce during the Korean War. He is a graduate of Duquesne University. He is survived by Trudy, his beloved wife of 67 years. He is also survived by four children Mary Fleig (Matt), David Palmer (Hwan), TJ Schiavo (Lorenzo), and Stacey Proviano (Tom), and 9 grandchildren (Elisha Fleig, Christine Fleig, Samantha Schiavo, Madeline Schiavo, Joseph Proviano, Luke Proviano, Sophia Proviano, Caleb Palmer, and Davina Palmer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at St. John Capistran Church of Resurrection Parish. Interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Friends are welcome to meet the family at church and are invited to the burial.
David is remembered for his enduring, faithful love for his wife, and his delight in his children and grandchildren. David lived out his faith in humble service, kindness, laughter, words of encouragement, and belief in God’s love and grace.
