Obituary of Joan T. (Barley) Kent

Age 90, died on December 20, 2022, at Country Meadows, Bridgeville, PA. Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband, Floyd R. Kent. Survived by her daughters, Linda (Robert) Shaw and Nancy (Paul) Kruper, her grandchildren, Adrienne (Scott) Gallagher and Warren Shaw, and her great-grandson, Declan Gallagher. Also survived by her sister, Audrey Irwin, her brother Ron Barley and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her brother John (Jack) Barley. Joan loved entertaining with her family throughout the year, especially on holidays. Her annual July 4th picnic included delicious food, lively games and nearby fireworks display that was enjoyed by all. She also enjoyed gardening, feeding her backyard birds, and reading the latest mystery novels. Joan enjoyed traveling with her husband Floyd and friends on many cruises and spending a month in sunny Hilton Head, SC every winter. In later years, Joan enjoyed new friends and activities at Country Meadows Retirement Communities. At Joan’s request, there will be no viewing or visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Child Church of Corpus Christi Parish on Tuesday at 10 AM. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on Wednesday at 1:30 PM. Arrangements entrusted to Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, PA.
