Obituary of Louise G. Metzger

Louise G. Metzger, 96, of Celebration Villa at Lakemont Farms, formerly of Collier Township, passed peacefully on Friday, November 11, 2022. She was born in Pittsburgh on April 23, 1926 and was the daughter of the late George and Mary Jeanetta Geinzer. Louise grew up in Crafton Ingram and was the sister to the late George (Betty) Geinzer and Richard (Barbara) Geinzer. In May of 1949, she married her childhood sweetheart, the recently deceased Louis P. Metzger. Over the 73 years of their marriage, she was a devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that loved to prepare home-cooked meals, was an avid reader and gardener, and enjoyed the challenges of a good crossword puzzle. She cherished her time with her grandchildren and great-children, and lovingly baked her famous zucchini bread or cherry squares for their delights. Surviving to cherish her memories are her loving children Diane (Pete) Wildman, Carol (Randy) Gratchick, Christine (Jeff) McDanel, John (Tammy) Metzger, Raymond Metzger, and Marie (Brian) Trossman; also surviving are her 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, November 16 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at the Warchol Funeral Home, 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, PA 15017. A memorial service will be held at the Warchol Funeral Home on Thursday, November 17 at 11:00 AM with interment to follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers and staff at Celebration Villa for their love and compassionate care over the last eight months and to the nursing staff with Gallagher Hospice for their devotion and comfort. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association: Greater Pittsburgh Chapter or to the American Heart Association.
