Obituary of Howard B. Matthews, Jr.

Howard B. Matthews Jr. Age 77 of South Fayette passed away on November 12th. Beloved son of the late Howard B. Matthews Sr. and Theresa (nee Sloan) Matthews. Brother of Gloria (Bert) Collini and the late Mary Marlene (Harold) Caldwell. Husband to the late Elaine ( nee Sabo) Matthews. Uncle to Kim (Gordon) Dunn, Beth (Frank) Arzillo and Sharon (Michael) Gallagher. Great Uncle to Nicole (nee Kirkpatrick) Rafalko, Ashley Arzillo and Brendan and Collin Gallagher. Close friend and companion of Maxine Berton. Howard was a proud member of the U. S. Marine Corps at the rank of Sergeant and also a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was always an adventurous person. He was a pilot and passionate about flying. He owned, operated and flew his airplane out of the Washington County Airport in Washington, PA. Howard also enjoyed spending time at the Gab and Eat restaurant located in Scott Twp. Family and friends received 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 PM on Tuesday, November 15th at the Warchol Funeral Home Inc. 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333), where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 16th at 11:00AM. Interment to follow at Robinson Run Cemetery, South Fayette Twp. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Vietnam Veterans of America at vva.org in Howard’s memory.
