Obituary of Carolyn B. Hamilton

HAMILTON CAROLYN B. Listening to the birds, walking in the woods, enjoying the natural world, family, friends, and church were the joys in Carolyn Winifred Brewer’s life. Born in San Francisco, May 4, 1929, to Evelyn McMullen and John Brewer, Carolyn passed peacefully on August 29,2022, while a resident of Baptist Home, Castle Shannon, PA. What an unconventional and interesting life southpaw Carolyn lived in California, North Carolina and Pennsylvania at a time when expected gender roles were rarely challenged, always with her famous eye twinkle and somewhat sharp tongue. Most proud of her son Mark Hamilton, born January 25, 1955 and passed March 13,1979. A graduate of Taylor Alderdice, he attended Edinboro University of PA, and joined the United States Air Force. While serving in Okinawa, Mark developed an incurable illness. From that time forward, Carolyn would never live more than a mile from Mark’s resting place in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, where she will now join him. A celebration of life will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Mt. Lebanon, on September 17, 2022, at 10:00 AM. Survivors include many first cousins, scattered throughout the United States; Mickey McMullen, Carol McMullen, Linda Mandell, William Beaver, Gregory Beaver, Donna Whoric, Debbie Brosh, Tom McMullen, Ron McMullen, Mark McMullen, Julie McMullen, Terry Patrick, Becky Gilbert, loving dear friend of the late Charles Crouch, and close friends Dolores Trichtinger, Trudy Bridges and Colleen Dougherty. Many thanks to the congregation of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Pastor Alina, and the third floor memory unit at Baptist Home Castle Shannon for the tender loving care and support given Carolyn in the final years of her life.
