I only worked with Lydia for a short time at ONS but in that time Lydia was so helpful and kind. I loved seeing her smiling face in meetings, getting jazz and Christmas movie recommendations. I'm so glad to have known such a lovely person. My heart is with her family and all those touched through her life. She was a guiding light.

I had the pleasure of working in the same office with Lydia at ONS from 1999-2000. She worked tirelessly on the many projects that she coordinated. She was remarkable on the computer! There was no task too great. Her kindness and devotion to her family was evident. I remember her talking about Lloyd and her granddaughter all the time! She was a remarkable woman of faith, and when my family moved to California, she gave me the Bible on cassette tapes to listen to in the car. If I could name one individual who had an impact on my life, it would be Lydia. Gracious and giving. My prayers are for her family at this time, and hope that they can feel some peace knowing how strong and important Lydia's faith was to her. She loved her church and her family, a role model for all of us. - Wendy McDonnell

To Alana and family, So sorry for your loss. What a beautiful picture of your mom. Even though I did not personally know your mom, reading the comments that people are sharing, she had a beautiful soul and helped many people. May the Lord shed his perpetual light upon her soul and precious memories keep you strong.

I am an oncology nurse and for many years, worked with Lydia in providing the ONS Chemotherapy Course. She was a wonderful colleague - I felt like we were truly a team. I taught a lot of those classes in rural areas throughout several states. Lydia always made sure everything was ready and right. We laughed together over many issues (they were my issues, I'm sure because she was one of the most organized people ever). She was invested in the success of ONS and in oncology nurses across the country and she is directly connected to better care for thousands and thousands of patients over the years. I consider it a privilege to have known her. I'll be praying for all.

I wanted to share my deepest sympathies on the loss of Lydia. She was charming, sweet, dedicated and I feel so blessed to have known her. I am an oncology nurse and had the great pleasure to work and collaborate with her on many projects at the Oncology Nursing Society. I am so heartbroken to hear this news. Her knowledge, vibrant nature and always going above and beyond to help the nurses on the ONS teams was second to none; she always had a smile and had time to talk with you and share a kind word and a hug. I will miss her so very much. She will always be remembered in my heart. She made a positive difference to so many nurses. I have her and your family in my prayers.
