Obituary of Gilbert James Taylor, Sr.
Age 83, of Bridgeville, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2021. Beloved husband of the late Carol M. (McCool) Taylor; loving father of Gil (Mary) Taylor, Jr. and Linda (Bill) O’Neil; cherished grandfather of Bridgette, Liam, and Brianna O’Neil and Owen and Sean Taylor. Originally from McKees Rocks, PA, Gil was the son of the late Marie (Campbell) and Frederick W. C. Taylor, grandson of the late Margaret (Reilly) and William Campbell and Mary (McGlinn) and Thomas Taylor; brother of the late Fred (Rose) Taylor, Thomas Taylor, Mercedes (Jim) Naughton and Mary LaVerne McCool. Gil is also survived by his beloved brother-in-law, Dan (Mary Laverne) McCool, and sister-in-law, Norma (McCool) Holleran, and nieces and nephews John (Debbie) Naughton, Maureen (Tom) McCallister, Kathy (Tom) Evans, Jimmy (Marlene) Naughton, Sean McCool, Thomas (Janice) McCool, Larry (Lisa) Holleran, Ed (the late Denice) Holleran, and Carol Jean (Chet) Brewer and their families; he is predeceased by nephews Eddie Naughton, Dan (the late Brenda) McCool, Louis McCool, Michael Holleran and James Holleran, and niece Mary Margaret McCool. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Gil served proudly in the 503rd Infantry Regiment of the 11th Airborne Division as a paratrooper. Family and friends received on Monday, Nov. 8th from 6-8 PM and Tuesday, Nov. 9th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Warchol Funeral Home Inc., 3060 Washington Pike., Bridgeville (412.221.3333). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 10th at 9:30 AM at Holy Child Church of Corpus Christi Parish in Bridgeville. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to charities and causes dear to Gil: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; Myasthenia Gravis Assoc. of Western PA; Leukemia & Lymphoma Society; National Audubon Society; or in support of your local veterans, food bank, church, or animal shelter.
