I just found out that Denny passed. I actually was listening to some music that reminded me of the the “Good old days” at Freddie’s II in Bethel Park. In an attempt to text him a HELLO, the message came back undelivered. I then Google his name and found out the sad news. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. The Denny Connors always brought a SMILE to my face. May he Rest In Peace!

I grew up with Denny on “The Hill”, as we referred to Waldheim Road in Fox Chapel. There were four of us who literally spent most summer days and nights together between 4th and 8th grade. We each had nicknames: Denny was Zizza, Alex was Choka, Bernie was Skal, and I was T. O. We spent countless hours playing games. Baseball in the fields where St Matagret’s Hospital is now located, basketball at the half court in front of St. Scholastically School, and football just about anywhere. Rainy days and late nights were board or card games played until Denny’s parents rang the bell indicating that all of the Conners should be heading for home. To avoid the curfew, we often played on overnight sleepovers in cabins we built in the neighborhood woods. We filled those woods with laughter, hijinks, and antics that are now precious memories for me. Loved you man!

A great and true obituary, Den. We knew each other casually, during our four years at Fox Chapel High...but I never imagined that you would change my life. I saw you on the campus of Youngstown U., January of 1966. You told me that you were living with your grandmother, near Wick Park. You also mentioned something about fraternity "rush week" and lots of free beer !! We must have (happily) checked out, at least a dozen houses. I remember very well the last place that we visited...Theta Chi on Bryson St. You told me that your Uncle Nick was a legacy. I pledged that Spring, became a brother, but unfortunately, lost track of you. They were the greatest group of guys with whom I have ever been associated. The friendships that I made then, are still a part of my life today. That would never have occurred without you. Thank you, old friend ! May God bless and watch over all of your family. Klep

I knew Denny for only a short time but what a great man.
He had a great way to share ideas and always a positive attitude.
He always engaged you on any subject.
His smile was contagious.
He is in God's Hands.
