Obituary of Christina Cornelia (Overdyk) Vander Putten
Christina “Tina” Cornelia Vander Putten (Overdyk), age 90, of West Palm Beach, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. Tina was the beloved wife of the late Reinier “Ray”Vander Putten, and dear mother of Yvonne (Dan) Coogan; loving Oma of David (Leigh) Coogan, Jeff Coogan, and Andrew (Linda) Coogan; great-grandmother of James, Jack, and Hunter.
Preceded in death by her parents Timotheus and Christina (van den Brink) Overdyk, brothers Ben (Mien) and Joop (Gerda)Overdyk.
Tina was born in Haarlem, Netherlands on February 24, 1931. As a young girl, she survived Nazi occupation. After the war, she worked as a telephone operator and proudly routed calls from across Europe (“Parlez-vous francais?”). Tina and her husband, Ray, left Holland in 1955 and settled in New Jersey. They owned and operated a bakery, first in New Jersey, then in Florida. She worked hard her entire life and lived the American immigrant story.
