Obituary of Susan Edith (Garrison) Sray

On July 28, 2021, Susan Edith Sray joined the church triumphant at the age of 75. She lived a life of faithful service through acts large and small. She blessed her husband Bill each day of their fifty-five years together with her warm and gentle spirit and with her administrative acumen in the family’s funeral home business. Susan also served as the administrative assistant to four principals at Cumberland Regional High School. From students to schedules, her professionalism ensured smooth sailing for the main office. To Susan’s absolute delight, God blessed her marriage with three jewels: Bill, Mark, and Karen Sray. Susan loved being a mother. When Mark married Heidi and Bill married Sonja, she welcomed her daughters-in-law with warm hugs and folded them into the family. Her earthly joy was made even more complete by her four “grands:” Amelia, Ben, Mariah, and Micah Sray. Her sisters and their husbands, Nancy and the late Paul Saar and Ellen and John Rottschafer, surrounded Susan with love and faithful listening ears. She did the same for them, always listening and loving and praying. Susan loved people through all seasons of life and invited strangers to the family table to become friends. But Susan didn’t just serve her family, her employers, and her friends. Her most faithful service was to her Lord. She witnessed to waitresses, to folks she met in the airport, and to her church family. Her family’s ultimate comfort resides in their firm knowledge that Susan is now in the arms of her beloved Savior Jesus Christ, beyond the reach of all suffering. But, they will miss her voice charging into the Doxology around the Thanksgiving table this year. They would welcome the comfort of family and friends as they celebrate Susan’s homegoing. Family and friends received Friday from noon until the time of service at 1PM at the Providence Presbyterian Church, 77 Phillips Lane, McKees Rocks, PA 15136. In lieu of flowers, they ask that donations be made in Susan’s honor to Robinson Township Christian School, 77 Phillips Lane #1021, McKees Rocks, PA 15136.
