Obituary of Louis John Lubic

Louis John Lubic, of Latrobe, age 86, died peacefully surrounded by family on March 28, 2021. He was born September 21, 1934 to the late Helen (Fujan) and John Lubic. He graduated in 1952 from Clark High School. A few years later he married his sweetheart and the love of his life, Mary Ann Rupprecht. Together they built a home and raised 5 children in it. As a registered plumber with Plumbers Local #27, Lou worked for 40+ years. He passed on his knowledge of plumbing and many other skills to his sons and through them to his grandchildren. After retiring at 58, Lou and Mary Ann moved to Mercer County where they enjoyed country living until July of 2019. Their beloved daughter, Jennifer, who battled Cystic Fibrosis, moved to Mercer County with them for a brief period of time while awaiting a lung transplant. Lou was dedicated to the loving care of Jennifer until her passing in March 2006. “When the young bury the old, time heals the pain and sorrow. But when the process is reversed, the sorrow remains forever” ~Joseph P. Kennedy. Lou was the consummate outdoorsman. He was happiest when the weather permitted him to be outdoors hunting, fishing and gardening. His sons have great childhood memories of weekend trips to the “Trailer” where Lou taught them to love the same. Lou’s legacy includes the traditional family gathering for the First Day of Trout Season. In 2019, four generations of Lubics gathered on the shores of the Little Shenango. In the Fall of that same year, three generations gathered to celebrate his other favorite tradition, rabbit hunting. Lou passed down his love for hunting to his children, and later his grandchildren, who share this same passion. His love for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and telling tales of these experiences in the shop with a cold can of beer, will never be forgotten. Lou was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer and parents, Helen and John. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann (Rupprecht), sons: Rory (Mary) of South Carolina, Jeffrey (Barb) of Latrobe, Gerald (Kathleen) of Monroeville, and L. John Jr. (Deanna) of North Strabane. Grandchildren: Alyssa (Brian) Ligato, Heather (Anthony) Kilgore, Nicholas (Cassandra) Lubic, Brittany (Ben) Weimer, Adam, Stuart, Ryan, Alison, Carly and Jacob Lubic.
