Obituary of Gerald "Jerry" Beatty

Beatty Gerald “Jerry” Francis Age 77, of Collier Twp., died peacefully at home on September 28, 2020, after a long illness, with his loving wife Ruth at his side. Jerry was born on November 16, 1942 in Blairsville, PA to Gene and Sara Beatty. He graduated from Punxatawney High School in 1960 and attended the University of Pittsburgh. After graduating with a degree in Metallurgical Sciences, he worked for many steel producers in the eastern United States, including Universal Cyclops, Crucible, LTV and most recently Olympic Steel in Cleveland, Ohio. Jerry’s accomplishments in the steel industry include 3 patents for making electrical steel. Ruth and Jerry recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. During their years together they enjoyed traveling, especially their many trips to Hawaii. Jerry’s hobbies included golfing, travel and investing. He was an active member of St. John Luthern Church in Carnegie, PA. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Sara Beatty and his brother Gene and sister-in-law Joan. He is survived by his wife, sister-in-law Karen Windhorst, two nieces and a nephew, nine great nieces and nephews. Friends received Thursday, 2-4 and 6-8 pm, at the Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333), where a Funeral Service will be held Friday at 10 am.
