I remember hearing Joe play with a few other guys in Newport. I got my first desire to play by listening to them play one afternoon at a friends house. I can say sense that wonderful day, I have made music a huge part of my life and today still very active in music and recording. Thank you Joe and also your dad for exciting me to love music.

We first met Joe when he and Marlynn moved into a mobile home park my first husband and I managed. In her posted memory, my daughter Wendy mentioned the back yard barbecues we had where we enjoyed good food and Joe’s music.
Very fond memories. During the weeks before Halloween in 1959, we came up with costume ideas and Joe made them come to life with his art ability, bushel baskets, cardboard boxes, paint, construction paper and nylon stockings. Our merry band of Halloween party goers won first prize at the Eagles Lodge costume party. We enjoyed many camping trips where we slept on the ground and nearly froze but we didn’t mind because we were young among friends.
Our friendship with Joe and Marlynn lasted over time and space for many years. The memories will last forever.

Dana and Nicky I will always remember the back yard parties at our house with the Lemas. I loved it when Uncle Joe played the banjo, and the mandalyn, and our parents would sit and all sing together. Most of these memories were before Nicky was a part of our lives, and Dana, you were very very young.

I miss you, Papa. I know you are up there with Grandpa, Tess and your brothers laughing, playing music and watching over us all. I love you.
